Another standard testshot, and a comparison of the Merrill DP1, Merrill DP3 & Quattro DP2, plus for fun the Sony RX1 and Fuji XE2. All taken in different lighting conditions and at different settings. This isn’t a scientific comparison, but then again photography is an art not a science!

When I first shot the Sony RX1 (~£2,000 at the time) and the Merrill DP1 (<£500 at the time) I was pretty gob smacked by the IQ of the Merrill.

The XE2 was pretty good, but didn’t come close to the Merrill.

The Merrill DP3 is again a class act.

The Quattro DP2 looks sharp on the clock, but look at the green foliage between 1 & 2, then compare to the Merrill DP3. From the previous shots I’d seen that the Quattro had problems with reds, but the difference in quality between the Merrill and Quattro in the greens is unmistakable. The Merrill is far, far superior and not just when you pixel peep. In fact the Quattro is beaten by all the other cameras. 😦
