A few years ago I bought a book, Atlas of Remote Islands – Fifty Islands I have not visited and never will, by Judith Schalansky. Every so often I take it from the book shelf and read about an Island I’ll never visit, but through Judith’s writing gain a connection. It’s a magical book!
Anafi stands off the East coast of Santorini. Over the week we stayed it drifted in and out of sight, its reality at the mercy of the weather. On this evening it stood in a jade sea, and in my imagination became one of Judith’s remote islands. Stunning!
